skylines and sunsets

a couple of shots from a lovely evening, and several others from a place in sf with one of the best views of the city i've seen (the pictures dont do it justice) which turned out to be the daytime studio of an artist who's name i proceeded to forget over the course of the night. i scoured fecal face for his name but failed to find anything, so if anyone reading this recognizes his work from the last photo let me know who he is so I can redeem my memory for its epic failure to remember names

could i be italian?

i got this image of Annibale Carracci's The Butcher Shop from my roomates mom (she's a professor of art history at northwestern), couldnt help noticing that the guy with the scales and the white shirt looked a hell of a lot like me. the resemblance is uncanny, causing me to wonder if the Dangles family line every dipped on over to italy in the 1580's...

studio update

my studio finally looks likes its getting some proper use, still waiting to have enough money to go buy stuff to glaze my under painting, so in the mean time i've been working on a new "idol" piece for the past few weeks...

...after sketching it out on a panel i cut out the profile (with some help) and proceeded to do all the relief work first...

...then i worked over the entire thing in colored pencil, gouache and pastel
